Position Overview:
The Communications Manager will be responsible for leading and directing all communications and public relations efforts for Pueblo Viejo Dominicana Corporation (PVDC).
Main Duties & Responsibilities:

Assess communication needs of PVDC, taking into consideration target audiences, including shareholders, employees, and the community. Develop and implement communication programs to address needs.
-
Fulfill all requirements of the Barrick Development System (BDS) Section 31 – Communications for the project/site through its various phases, working closely with the Country Manager and staff.

Manage media relations:
-
Monitoring media activity and establishing relationships with relevant media.
-
Ensure timely and accurate response to media inquiries.
-
Report and advise through Corporate Communication Channels as public issues arise or are anticipated, coordinating responses for consistency.
-
Act as authorized spokesperson for local, national and special-interest media, coordinating with Corporate Communications to ensure consistency in global reporting.

Support the Country Manager, Project Director, and Executive Managing Director and other senior management as experts/spokespersons as appropriate.

External relations:
-
Working with Corporate Affairs, Community Relations, Legal, Government Relations, Environment and other departments, provide communication support to help manage related public issues, launch new programs or publicize company initiatives.

Act as liaison with local government authorities, business associations, NGOs and other external groups as directed and guided by the Executive Managing Director and Country Manager.

Provides regular reports to Corporate Communications regarding issues and achievements.

Internal communications:

Provide advice and support to local leadership to help inform local employees about company vision, values, objectives and initiatives.

Provide support to leaders and functional groups such as Construction, Environment, Maintenance, Mining, Human Resources, Safety, Security, IT, and others as required to ensure successful local rollout of programs.

Report issues and achievements to Corporate Communications, and provide regular contributions for intranet and employee newsletters.

Build an effective internal communications system using traditional and new technologies to serve all PVDC employees.

Act as a company spokesman for Pueblo Viejo Dominicana Corporation as directed by the Country Manager, Project Director, and Executive Managing Director.
